Definition
Ein Bit ist die kleinste Informationseinheit in der Informatik.
Ein Bit kann zwei Zustände annehmen:
- 0
- 1
Ein Byte besteht aus 8 Bit.

- b = Bit
- B = Byte
- 1 Byte = 8 Bit
Prüfungshinweis
In IHK-Aufgaben wird häufig zwischen Bit und Byte unterschieden.
Typische Fehler:
- MBit/s mit MB/s verwechseln.
- Kleines b und großes B verwechseln.
- Bei Datenraten die Umrechnung durch 8 vergessen.
